My Literature Poems

The Mighty Oak

The trees stand tall

Their leaves dancing in the wind

The birds and their nests are safely resting

On the mighty branches of the oak

The sky is a dark violet

The thunder has begun rolling in

And even though it is still far away

The lightening echoes; roaring with power

But I’m not afraid

I am one with the earth and nature

Their warmth envelops me

As the clouds pass over

The storm is gone now

Though the thunder still cries in the distance

Everything is as it was

Everything is living

The trees are charred but they still stand tall

Their leaves still dance in the wind

The birds and their nests are once again resting

In the branches of the mighty oak

I am the mighty oak
