You’ve Got A Story, My Child

You’ve got a story, my child

Of that I’m certain

But you won’t tell the world

You claim its a burden

You’ve got a story, my child

No need to fight it

Your thoughts are absurd

You’ve got a match so light it

You’ve got a story, my child

But you won’t say it out

You won’t set it free

You won’t sing it loud

You’ve got a story, my child

But what is it good for?

If you won’t let it be?

If you won’t say the words

You’ve got a story, my child

The story of your life

But you’re so scared and timid

Hiding in the night

You’ve got a story, my child

One you’ve yet to explore

Like dreams so vivid

You’ve yet to open the door

You’ve got a story, my child

And I’ll be right there with you

If you’re afraid

Remember dreams can come true

You’ve got a story, my child

It’s high time you share it

Through hail or through rain

Just grin and bear it
